The landscapes we live in are true winter wonderlands, with crisp snow and whispering pines… add in a dog (or several), and you get to experience winter with a new perspective. Whether you’re snowshoeing down a fair-weather road, gliding on cross‑country skis through a rolling forest, or powering a fat‑tire bike over packed powder all the way to the Mutt Hut, having your four‑legged companion by your side turns every outing into a playful romp or eye-opening adventure.
Dogs aren’t just enthusiastic adventure buddies; they’re your trusted trail partners. Their keen senses add a comforting layer of security as you venture off the beaten path, and when outfitted with a lightweight pack, they can carry treats, extra gear, or even a thermos of cocoa (or whiskey) for a cozy cabin weekend. Let’s be honest — is there anything more delightful than a pup bounding toward you, muzzle dusted in snow, eyes shining with pure, unbridled bliss? Winter was made for days like these — fresh air, the best company, and the perfect excuse to let the dogs lead the next snowy adventure.

Dogs have a way of making everything better. Her boundless energy, constant curiosity, and unconditional love remind me to embrace the beauty of winter, adventure often, and keep my inner child alive and well.
SWEET PEA, FREDDIE & SCOTT
When backcountry skiing, we have a game where we make dollar signs together. I head down making S turns, with Sweet Pea & Freddie waiting up top. With a whistle, they come running straight down to make us some $$.
Miele, Al Dente, Bodie Cornbread, and Cannella (and their hoomans)
Even in bad weather or after a tiring day, we know we need to rally and get our dogs outside... and it always turns out to be the best part of the day. That cold, wet-nosed nudge into fun is something we would never dream of living without.
I love the quiet magic of adventuring with my dogs. They ground me, and their wonder shows me how to see the simple and beautiful things of this world. We move through wild places, not just as companions, but as kindred spirits. There is trust, freedom, and unspoken joy of the journey.
King Eider, named for the beautiful sea duck.
Pheobe challenges me to bring out all of the adventurous, free-spirited parts that exist inside me. Her love for play and joy is something I hope to emulate. Pheebs holds me accountable to be my best self and to always choose love.
All the joy, all the excitement... no matter the temperature, they are in it to win it.
A moonlit night XC skiing, trecking nearby trails, or just stepping outside to toss the snow up in the air for some serious Hatch hang time — it’s all good medicine for my soul.
